Power Points Where You Actually Need Them
If you're relying on power boards and extension leads to charge devices, run appliances, and keep your home office working — you don't have enough power points. Most older homes in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs were wired with far fewer outlets than modern life demands.
Adding power points is one of the simplest and most cost-effective electrical upgrades you can make. Randwick Electrical installs new power points in any location, on existing or new circuits, with minimal disruption to your walls and finishes.
Power Point Options
- Standard double power points — the workhorse 10A GPO. We install Clipsal, HPM, and other quality brands in your choice of colour and style
- USB power points — integrated USB-A and USB-C charging ports alongside standard outlets. Perfect for bedside tables, kitchen benches, and home offices
- Weatherproof outdoor points — IP53+ rated outlets with spring-loaded covers for patios, gardens, garages, and outdoor entertaining areas
- 15A and 20A outlets — for high-draw appliances like portable air conditioners, welders, and commercial equipment
- Floor outlets — recessed power points installed in floor boxes for island benches, boardroom tables, and open-plan spaces
- Relocations — moving existing power points to better positions as part of a furniture rearrangement or minor renovation
How Many Power Points Do You Need?
Australian standards recommend a minimum of one double power point per 4 linear metres of wall space. But in practice, most people need more. Our recommendation:
- Bedrooms: 3-4 doubles (bedside x2, desk, wardrobe/TV)
- Kitchen: 4-6 doubles along the bench run, plus dedicated outlets for oven, cooktop, dishwasher, fridge
- Living room: 4-6 doubles (TV unit, couch ends, lamps, charging stations)
- Home office: 4+ doubles at desk height, plus data points
- Bathroom: 1 double (shaver socket or GPO in compliant location)
